Data Packet Expiry Policy (DPEP)
True data control through cryptographic enforcement
What is DPEP?
The Data Packet Expiry Policy is an innovative approach to data privacy that uses cryptographic enforcement to automatically expire shared data after a specified time period.
Unlike traditional "delete upon request" policies that rely on trust, DPEP makes it technically impossible to access expired data.
How It Works
When you share data through Looma:
- Your data is encrypted with a time-limited cryptographic key
- The recipient can only decrypt it during the valid time period
- Once expired, the data becomes permanently unreadable
- No trust required - the encryption itself enforces the expiry
Why It Matters
Traditional data sharing relies on companies honouring deletion requests. DPEP removes this trust requirement by making expired data technically inaccessible.
This represents a fundamental shift from policy-based to cryptographically-enforced data privacy.
